Sacagawea

by Hailey

Sacagawea was probably born in 1788 or 1789, but no one is for sure. She was born in the Western Rocky Mountains. She was a Native American. She was part of the Shoshone tribe. She liked to race horses as a child.

Sacagawea led Lewis and Clark through the west and helped them learn about the land west of the Misissippi River. She helped Lewis and Clark make peace with the Native Americans on their trip.

Sacagawea died either on December 20, 1812 or April 9, 1884. No one is for sure when she died. She will always be remembered for helping people learn about the land west of the Mississippi River.
